Helene Relief Trip
November 2 @ 7:00 am - 4:30 pm
As part of our Serving Greensboro Day, we are sending a group of 15 people to Boone, NC to serve in Helene recovery efforts with Samaritan’s Purse. We report to their base at 7:15am, so you can choose to go Friday evening and stay at Ashley Donovan’s parents’ home (in Boone), or drive up very early Saturday morning (leave at approx. 5am). Please designate which option you will be choosing when you click here to register. Here are the details:
- Volunteers ages 14 and up are welcome, though ages 14-17 should be accompanied by a guardian.
- Please bring a sleeping bag if you plan to spend the night! There are options for sharing beds or feel free to bring an air mattress for the floor.
- We will send you the address for the either the home in Boone or the SP base in Boone after you register, depending on which option you choose, as well as a carpool option.
- Bring a bagged lunch, water, and hand sanitizer. You must also provide your own dinner Friday night, either on the road or brought with you. We will provide a simple breakfast Saturday morning.
- Please come dressed and prepared to work in messy conditions and potentially colder weather (wear long pants and sturdy boots). Tools will be provided, and volunteers are welcome to bring their own tool belts and small hand tools.
- The workday ends at 4:30pm.
